As Mayor and later as President, I enthusiastically collected the surprising experience of the Teatro del Silenzio, which began in 2006 in Lajatico.

A unique reality, conceived and then nurtured with passion by many people of our beloved Municipality, but above all by the one who made it so important: Maestro Andrea Bocelli.

Lajatico and the Teatro del Silenzio represent the perfect synthesis of the relationship between man and territory.

The spotlight on Andrea Bocelli has rediscovered the beauty of this place,a territory with soft, sinuous and sensual cadences, which must be perceived slowly, in order to “see wonders – as Saramago suggests – once again what one already is seen, to see in the spring what one had seen in the summer, to see by day what one had seen at night, with the sun where it used to rain, to see the green crops, the ripe fruit, the stone that has changed its place, the shadow that wasn’t there “.

The Teatro del Silenzio allows all this wonderfully, thanks to its sensational staging and the always innovative collateral activities, which sees the artistic direction of Alberto Bartalini.

And, above all, the mastery, the passion, the kindness, the refinement of Andrea Bocelli.

Lajatico, with its extraordinary events, has now become an important point of reference in the international panorama of the arts, in all its forms and declinations.
